My son had surgery yesterday on his elbow - he had tendonitis and bursitis. The doctor had to remove the bursitis. Oh we were there all day - the doc ran 3 hours late (what a long day). When he got in there, he said his muscle was too big and had to trim the muscle and tighten it. I'm not sure my son wanted a smaller muscle LOL! All in all things went well - he was hurting somewhat last night. I have such a busy week. He's also moving into his first dorm at college on Sunday (barely enough time to recuperate let alone pack) - so mom's going to have to help him through it.

I'm working on getting caught up with my SOTB work - it's tough to miss a day when running a website, but I'm getting there.

Today I'm starting the South Beach diet (whoo hoo) - I've been procrastinating and it's time to do something about it. I'm also joining Cardio Express with my daughter so I'm looking forward to getting back in shape (you know what happens when you hit 40). I just had my 40th birthday and geez the designers and support members really tricked me into the chatroom. They reported bad behavior going on and I needed to check it out. I popped into the chatroom and I really was fooled - they certainly got me. It was a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! I totally have the best group of girls in the digi world and don't know what I'd do without them. They are all part of my family and I hold all of them close in my heart.
Wish me luck with my exercise and dieting goals!

House Fire
You'll never believe what happened at my house last night (or should I say early morning) at 2:00 a.m. I was awake until 1:00 a.m. working on my Scrap Outside the Box admin stuff and went to bed. About an hour later, I heard a strange noise. I thought it was the tv, which I fell asleep to. Boy, was I wrong. It was the smoke detector going off and for a very good reason, I had a fire in my basement where my 19 year son lives. I got up and saw my entire house full of smoke and ran frantically downstairs looking for Dave. We have a kerosene heater down there for him because the heat doesn't run in the basement. The entire top of the heater was flaming which we were fortunate enough to put out with not too much effort, but we had to open all the windows and doors to get the smoke out of the house and believe me you could see it pouring out the doors. It was so cold having to do that and my house stinks like crazy right now. All I can say is how fortunate we are that we were able to put the fire out and we didn't need to call the fire department and everyone is safe and sound. We definitely inhaled the fumes because their was black soot all over my hands (I'm not even sure why) and it was in my and my son's nose (it was and is extremely gross). So my purpose of this post is to say that I just received the best possible Christmas present I could ever ask for - A Safe Family all thanks to our smoke detector.

If anyone has any ideas on how I'm going to clean my house and remove the odor and soot, please feel free to leave me a comment or two.

Tis the Season
I went to the mall Christmas shopping last night. I just don't know what to buy many of the people on my list so gift cards were the way to go for most of them. Did you know that they now charge a fee to buy a gift card? Seems a little ridiculous to me but oh well. My 10 year old cousin lives in Texas and will be visiting us this Christmas. I bought him a $25 American Express gift card (so that he can spend it anywhere). This card cost me a $4 fee - beats me why that's necessary. A $50 one carried an $8 fee. I think those are some hefty charges. Truly I hate to give gift cards as it seems like I didn't take the time to shop. I know I probably should be making some gifts. Last Christmas, I made both my aunt and my grandmother a digi scrapbooking album. I was very proud of the results, but dear old grandma thought my mother made it and I didn't get her anything. I still need to do some more shopping but have the most difficult people to buy for. My parents have everything they ever wanted and they are so hard to buy for. Time to start doing some thinking . . .

This kit was inspired by my fourteen year old daughter, Ashley. She just started High School this fall and needed to get glasses recently, right about the same time I did. I don't normally wear mine, I have contacts. She did a good job picking out her glasses and they look cute on her, but I've yet to get a picture of her in them so I can scrap her.
